Library Facilities

1. Personal Laptop use
   Library users can use their own laptops in the Library.
2. Printing Services
   The computer printing service is only available in the Dhaka University library reprography section with charges.
3. CD Write services
   Only old and rare manuscripts of digitized form write on CD partially with charges.
4. Photocopy Services
   The photocopy services offer from following locations with charges

   • Reading Room – 1st Floor
   • Reading Room – 2nd Floor
   • Periodical Section
   • Reprography Section
   Science Library
   • Ground Floor
5. Carrel Booking
   Carrels are available at the 1st and 2nd floor of the main library building. These can be booked only for Researcher and Faculty Members for higher studies. After booking the carrel, he/she must borrow the key by themselves and keep at their own responsibilities.
6. Online Catalogue Search
   There are computers for library users to search different information and books of the library. Manual catalogue card of books are also available here.
7. Borrower's ID card Service
   It is located at the ground floor of the main library building. Library users must have digital borrowers' ID card to use the library.
8. Teachers' Book Issue Counter
   It is adjacent to the entrance of the main library building. Books issues, return, renew and holds are processed at this counter. The users can issue books against their library cards.
9. Cyber Centre
   It is located in the south side of the ground floor of Administrative Building. Dhaka University library offered internet access services for the library users through this well decorated cyber center with charges.
10. Resource Centre
    A modern and International Standard Resource Centre is located at the ground floor of the Library Administrative Building in collaboration with the Sightsavers International for visually impaired students. There are Braille Books, 3 modern computers with special type of software, modern Braille Printer in the Resource Centre.
11. Reading Rooms
    
    1. Student Reading Room, First Floor
       The first floor of the library consists of reading rooms and books stack area of 12 disciplines like Sociology, Statistics, Political Science, Economics, Law, History, Biography, Geography, Journalism, Anthropology, Social Welfare, and Public Administration.
    2. Student Reading Room, Second Floor
       The second floor of the library consists of reading rooms and books stack area of 12 disciplines like Library and Information Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Religion, Linguistics, Anthropology, Business Administration, English, Bengali, Arabic, Urdu and Persian.
    3. Reference Reading Room
       It is located at the south side of the ground floor of the main library building. Reference collections provide comprehensive reference and research materials in the field of humanities, especially religion, philosophy, language, literature, art and history, as well as in biographies, bibliographies, encyclopedias, dictionaries and current affairs.
    4. Periodicals Reading Room
       The periodical section is located at the ground floor of the Administrative Building. Library users can read the bound volume journals at ground floor and current journals in the mezzanine floor.
    5. Archives, Rare Books and Special Collections Reading RoomThis collection is located in the ground floor of the main library building. Archives, Rare Books and Special Collections like Hakim Habibur Rahman, Dr. Aftab Ahmed etc. are placed separately from the general collections.
    6. Current News Paper Desk
       This desk is adjacent to the south side of reference section. Dhaka University library preserved all well circulated daily newspapers in Bangladesh.
    7. Old News Paper Reading Room
       Old News Papers are preserved at the North-East side of the ground floor of library administrative building.
    8. Seminar Section
       It is located at the ground floor of the Administrative Building. The students, other than the departments of Faculties of Sciences, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering & Technology can issue books from the Seminar Section.
    9. Manuscript Reading Room
       It is located at the 2nd floor of the Administrative Building. The manuscripts are identified and preserved here scientifically. A modern preservation & restoration laboratory is established here.
    10. Microfilm and Microfiche Reading Room
        This section is located in the 2nd floor of the Administrative Building. Reprographic documents are preserved in this section.
12. Science Section
    Science library consists of books of Science disciplines like faculties of Sciences, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering & Technology. There are similar facilities for the science library, which is for the use of science faculties' users.
